The benefits of walking

Walking is an effective way to exercise at home, and if you don’t want to do a run or jog in public, then jogging or another form of cardio can be an alternative. It doesn’t feel terrible (or even bad) on your feet. You won’t get any “fat-burning” from walking. But it’s hard work and you will sweat profusely. That’s not a bad thing.

The most important benefit of going for long walks is that it clears your mind. When I start a new walk each morning, I end up clearing my head. By the time I’m done with the walk, I feel like myself again. The feeling doesn’t come easy, but it helps me to appreciate life more — how there’s never really been a bad day. For many people, getting out of bed is just as much about the fresh air that they breathe, as it is after a long day of working and being stressed out.

The other amazing part is that when you exercise you increase your production of human growth hormone — this makes those tired muscles grow bigger and stronger, which means all the negative thoughts disappear from your mind also. If you’re getting out of some kind of sedentary routine, you’re learning something useful, and you enjoy it. Not only does walking feel wonderful but it also releases stress and tension in the body. So it’s very refreshing, especially when you’re working flat out from home because it gives you a break and lets you concentrate on the task at hand.

The second benefit is that it burns calories — lots of them. This is true whether you’re exercising alone or you’re doing a group workout, so make sure you have enough time before beginning to count down days. As far as weight loss goes, walking is both a low-risk and high-risk exercise. A little bit of running may burn you more fat than walking, but the results aren’t nearly as dramatic. And since it’s such a simple activity, you shouldn’t spend too much time thinking about it — you can always find a different way to walk around! Here’s why:

1) There are no heavy weights involved except for yourself — no machines, weights, or equipment are required by the rules.

2) You can set times for yourself

3) Just start and maintain your route

4) No special equipment is needed

5) Nothing to carry.

6) Simple movement is what counts.

7) It keeps you moving.

8) Every day is a unique chance to change your physical state — walking becomes the new way I approach my fitness routine and it has become part of who I am. Some days I go for a short 15 minutes while others I go an extra 20 minutes each evening. I’m often surprised by how much I love what I’m doing for these extra minutes, especially when I’m near others on the planet. At least a few miles of walking is worth every minute of rest you need right now.

9) Another bonus is that being active outdoors stimulates natural vitamin D levels (which are linked with obesity and many diseases like heart disease, diabetes, and strokes), and this is one additional reason why walking around the neighborhood can help you lose weight.

10) In addition to being physically active in nature, hiking and camping are good ways to challenge yourself. Also, finding outdoor gyms is fun because you’ll meet lots of friendly people, and not only do you look great while you exercise, but you’ll also experience an incredible sense of accomplishment.

11) Because you’ll be using your muscles and not someone else’s, they’re incredibly beautiful and strong. I’ve noticed many clients walking along paths besides their homes in our area and I think we should try to take advantage of this by setting off trails all around the country — even the ones you can hike. Of course, you have to check into local laws because you’re walking an area, not an abandoned cemetery. However, for some people, this can make a huge difference in their quality of life — it makes you happy which means you’ll be less depressed. Plus, if you’ve got a dog, you’re not worried about having enough room to leave him in his crate, and you have space to stroll around — it’s pretty easy and relaxing!

12) Being around other people keeps you motivated! A healthy person gets up early to watch their friends’ children play and have a chat with them or talk to them over coffee. People who keep themselves active will know they’re making their minds up for better days ahead. Everyone has some sort of goal and walking is a fantastic way to achieve their goals. It also provides them with plenty of positive interactions and connections.

13) Since being active has nothing to do with quantity and everything to do with quality, you’ll find that walking is a form of self-care. So go for it! Be conscious about when you’re ready to stop the clock or even when you’re not. On the days you miss being able to live without the adrenaline pumping through you, remember that it’s not just about getting the job done. It’s about enjoying every moment you spend outside the gym or the house — being outside is truly an art form. Keep in mind that you’ll never look back and realize how much you’ve grown, so permit yourself to relax — and then get out of home!

14)
Finally, being active boosts your immune system (which is why it’s so important to eat well and exercise regularly). Since walking is so easy and simple, the whole world feels a lot smaller!

I love walking — it’s a great way to boost energy, improve cognitive functioning, lift your spirits, get out of the dazedness of being stuck indoors, and help clear your mind. And it’s a surprisingly satisfying exercise, despite it being very difficult. So grab a pair of sneakers, go out to walk for half an hour, and see where all the negativity of 2020 gets stuffed inside of your brain.
